Guard Your Mind. Guard Your Heart.

Min. Misti Sawyer

            I am becoming more and more aware of the importance of guarding our minds and our hearts, especially when we are going through trials in life.  Recently I posted a testimony, when to be honest, in my flesh, I didn’t really feel like it.  I was really at a low point that evening, but something that a sister in Christ had written helped me. I could feel the nudge from Holy Spirit to post, so I did. I believe it was the next day that someone commented how Holy Spirit had nudged them to look for a post that I would write.  Wow! I have, many times, struggled with wondering if anyone is actually reading my post and blogs when many times I am so excited to share.  The world has taught us to look for likes, comments, and shares when in reality, it’s all to seek validation.  That was a heart check for me, as I always pray that I get no glory from what I write, but that it truly points people back to the Father and His love.  It was a reminder that all I have to do is be obedient to write, say, or do what Holy Spirit directs me to, and He will direct lead those who need it accordingly.

            One of the biggest things for me, even in this tough time, is that I don’t let the Father down so that he would be glorified through my life and this situation.  I was so excited and overjoyed that as low as I felt in that moment, through my obedience, He was able to reach another soul and encourage them.  That meant so much to me.  See, the enemy wants us to focus on our current situations or fearful outcomes.  Why?  I truly believe Holy Spirit revealed to me this morning, that it is because He wants to keep us in such an oppressed state so that we won’t open our mouths to share.  The enemy wants to squash our testimony.  If he can get us to listen to the bombardment of negative thoughts concerning us, those things actually become beliefs in our hearts, and it cripples us as believers.  That’s when in reality, we begin to hold on to the lies of the enemy instead of the truths of Elohim.  In that state, we are literally allowing ourselves to believe that Satan is more powerful than Elohim and that he is in control.  The last time I checked, Yeshua/Jesus overcame satan.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

            As 2 Corinthians states in the above scripture, we have to cast down all imaginations and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.  As soon as a negative or fearful thought pops up, we should immediately pull those thoughts down.  We can’t give the enemy any open door through our thoughts to come in and create chaos. We have to realize that the enemy is on his post constantly looking for a way into us.  The question is, are we on our post to stop him?  We have to constantly be on our post awake, aware, and watching for any sneaky attack, especially in the less obvious form of thoughts.  We have been taught to be aware of conversations with others and not taking anything negative in, but remember our thoughts are also a form of conversation within ourselves.  Be on guard.  We have to guard our minds and in doing so, guard our hearts, so that we can be the available pure vessels Elohim has called us to be. Be available to be used at any moment.

Philippians 4:6-8 KJV

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
