Making My Mark

Minister Joseph Shepherd

It don’t matter if my name get deleted what remains
Is the mission that he missin’ which is liftin’ up His name
I read John’s vision and it’s plain
Christ reigns so I’m stickin’ in my lane
Rap don’t need me
Reach don’t need me
Christ don’t need me
I’m limpin’ ’cause I’m lame

“All Rise Up” by Trip Lee

I know this isn’t scripture, but bear with me. While on my way to work, I was listening to a song by Trip Lee. In the verse that I quoted above, he is telling about how regardless of what he does on this Earth in the music industry, Christ remains to be his forefront. He explains how in his walk of faith, he is limping. He adds no fluff or agenda to what his walk with Christ is like. What he wants you to see is why he is walking in that lane. I thought this was pretty interesting as he is preaching in his lyrics.

In life, we see many around us adding to the Word or twisting the stories in the bible to fit their narrative. There are even those who proclaim God after they have made their own platform. Elohim doesn’t need a grand stage to know that we serve Him.

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Matthew 18:19-20 KJV

One thing I definitely ask myself is if I were to never see a group of people or an individual again, how would they remember who I was? What legacy am I leaving behind for them to talk about? Will they remember me for what I was able to do for them? Or, will they stop to reminisce on the times where we were able to share the Word? Our character, walk and talk are all representations of where we should be headed in our own walks with Christ. Our lives should, as I am reminding myself just as you all should at all times, be poured out and exemplify holiness. We should keep things pure and just.

6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,

7 Rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

Colossians 2: 6-7 KJV

Thinking back to the beginning of this post, we have to make sure we are rooted and our foundations are in Christ, so we can walk in Him. By forgetting the gossip, glamour, and goods of this Earth, we shall know our legacy that has been passed down from Yeshua, Jesus onto us. Now consider this question, “how can I continue what has been transferred to me/us?”
