Minister Joseph Shepherd

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all. A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:1-6 KJV

As I now am welcoming a little one into the world, this particular scriptures is a lot more vibrant to me. As I am looking around at what is taking place today, I can’t help but notice all of the youth I encounter here at work and in coaching that are lost, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. You look to the parents to see possibly why they may be acting like that. Sure enough, you see very little to no help there. The students that I encounter react in a chaotic manner. Daily, I have to continue to pray over them and think about what they are being taught. It is just bringing into light how serious our walk is to be taken and making sure that we are in tune with the Father at all times.

It is disheartening the negative attention these students choose to have instead of wanting to do the right thing. Consistently, I have to monitor their behavior and correct them. During the chastising phase, you can see it may hurt them for the time being. That little sting or prick is actually something that I am seeing that they long for. A lot of people, not just my students, don’t have direction because the boundaries their parents set are wide. So, they are able to roam freely while barely knowing the parameters of the walls they have. This is where we as believers are to be ready and available at all times.

The light we have within us shines on them in a way that exposes the wrong that some know they have done opposed to others who know it and want you to dim your light. I am continuing to pray for the next generation of children that are going to be brought into a world that is becoming more lawless as the days go on. As we see what is taking place along with the bad that is to come, we are coming closer and closer to the day Yeshua is set to return. It is extremely important that when the day of judgement comes, we are in tune with the Father so that our king does not have to say to us, ” Depart from me, I never knew of you.” I pray that this is a warning to believers to be in place at all times and continue to pray.

I pray that you all have something to take away from this as we go throughout our days that we have left on this Earth. Continue to ask the Father to reside in us so that we remove fleshly ways of living and be helpers one to another.
