Praising Him Through the Storm

Min. Misti Sawyer

Isaiah 61:3 KJV

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

The Word tells us that the Father will give us a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.  I have been reminded more and more lately of the importance of praising our Father through every situation.  It doesn’t always seem easy to do, especially when the pain of situations we’re in seems to overwhelm us. However, I have realized that the only time situations feel overwhelming, or bring in fear, is when my focus is not in the right place. Praise keeps our focus on the Father; who He truly is, and the promises that He has given to His children.  The patriarchs praised God for the promises long before they ever saw them come into fruition because they knew He was faithful. These men were praised for their faith.  We can either allow a situation to break us, or we can allow it to push us into a deeper level of faith in our Father.  It all depends on where we allow our focus to be.

No matter what you may be facing today, choose to praise our Father. Know that He is faithful and He will see you through the storm.  He is Alpha and Omega; the beginning and the end. This reminds me that no matter what I face, my Father is already there.

1Thessalonians 5:16-18 KJV

16 Rejoice evermore.  17 Pray without ceasing.  18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Chronicles 16:34 KJV

34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth forever.
